2) 📝 Chapter Summary (English ~250 words)

India is the largest democracy in the world. In a democracy, people choose their leaders through elections. Every citizen who is 18 years or above and whose name is in the voter list can vote. The country is divided into smaller areas called constituencies. Candidates from different political parties, each with a unique symbol, contest the election in each constituency.

Elections are conducted by the independent Election Commission of India. It prepares voter lists, decides the dates, and ensures that voting is free and fair. Voters go to a polling booth with their Voter ID and cast their vote on a ballot paper or EVM (Electronic Voting Machine). Voting is by secret ballot so that no one knows whom a person has voted for.

After voting, the votes are counted. The party or candidate that gets the majority of votes wins. The winning party forms the government, and the party that does not win becomes the opposition. Elections need good planning and organisation because our country is very large. We must vote only once in an election, never sell our vote, and choose honest leaders. Elections give us the power to participate in running our country.
