Chapter 5: Addition (Single and Double Digits, with and without Carrying)

🧠 What is Addition?

Addition means putting things together to find the total.
We use the plus sign (+) and equal sign (=) for addition.
For Example:
🍎 + 🍎 = 🍎🍎 → 1 + 1 = 2

🧮 Addition without Carrying (Single & Double Digit)

👉 Add the numbers column by column.

🟦 Table 1: Without Carrying

Number 1+Number 2=Answer
2+3=5
5+4=9
11+6=17
21+15=36
32+14=46

🧮 Addition with Carrying

👉 When the total in the Ones place is more than 9, we carry 1 to the Tens place.

🟩 Table 2: With Carrying

TensOnes+TensOnes=CarryAnswer
18+27=14️⃣5️⃣
29+16=14️⃣5️⃣
37+28=16️⃣5️⃣

📝 Remember:
When Ones place > 9,

  • Keep ones digit down
  • Carry over the tens digit to the next column
